Pilates
Celebrities such as Madonna, Carmen Electra, Cher, Danny Glover, Daisy Fuentes and many more swear by this exercise form. This method of conditioning is geared towards strengthening the entire body, correcting spinal alignment, lengthening muscles (with emphasis on the abdominals and low back), while simultaneously enhancing flexibility. Pilates was invented around 1920 by Joseph Pilates, a German boxer and body-builder. This visionary combined Western exercise (working with machinery) and the Eastern philosophies of exercise (yoga and wellness) to produce the perfect exercise form for all! He immigrated to the United States, settling in New York City when he brought both his ideas and his designs with him. Return to top.
